

Debra Weiss Ford
Our 2026 HR Hero, Debra “Deb” Weiss Ford, is the Portsmouth Office Managing Principal of Jackson Lewis P.C., a national recognized workplace law firm. She is a highly respected leader in employment law with more than four decades of experience. Throughout her career, Deb has been a steadfast advocate for employers, combining strategic insight with deep legal knowledge to achieve optimal outcomes in both state and federal venues. She has represented clients before key institutions including the New Hampshire Commission for Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, offering clients a distinct advantage through her understanding of these processes. Central to Deb’s work is her commitment to education and prevention. She has conducted thousands of workplace trainings, equipping organizations with the tools to foster healthy workplaces, ensure compliance and avoid litigation. Known for her engaging and practical approach, Deb has a unique ability to break down complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance tailored to each organization’s needs. Deb’s practice spans a wide range of areas, including discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour issues and Title IX compliance. In addition to her litigation work, she regularly advises clients with a proactive, business-minded focus on mitigating risk and preventing disputes before they arise. Beyond her legal practice, Deb has demonstrated a strong commitment to the broader community and the HR profession through her service on numerous boards and professional organizations, including the Seacoast Human Resources Association. She has also served in pro bono and community-focused roles and as both a federal and state mediator, reflecting her leadership and dedication to advancing the profession. Deb is a graduate of Temple University Beasley School of Law and Drew University and is widely recognized for her excellence in the field, with numerous honors highlighting her impact and leadership in labor and employment law.
